Stumped about an ingredient or recipe? Got a health query? Here’s your chance to ask Sheree your most compelling questions!

QI seem to remember my grandma using some sort of a laxative herb to clean her face with—do you know anything about this?

Yes, I can help! There is blend called “Swiss Kriss® Herbal Laxative Flakes,” that has been used for decades as an at-home steam facial! The herb and steam combination pulls dirt and toxins out of the face, leaving you with glowing skin. Here is how you do it.

Fill a two-quart pot with water and bring to a boil. Add two tablespoons of the Swiss Kriss flakes to the pot and remove from heat. Cover your head with a large bath towel, put your face over the pot and let the steam go onto your face (keeping it at a comfortable distance, don’t risk scalding yourself!). Don’t allow the steam to escape. Start with a three-minute steam, and increase gradually to five minutes in subsequent steam sessions.

Your face will perspire and loosen stale make-up, rancid oils, blackheads and surface dirt in just a few minutes. Your pores will be open and some people like to follow with a cleansing masque, such as this one.

1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoons oatmeal, ground into powder
1 tablespoon raw honey

Blend ingredients. Smooth mixture onto face and allow to dry. Gently scrub off masque with warm water.

Q: Got any quick tips for when I look like crap because of a sleepless night?

We’ve all had those days! The best remedy is, of course, rest. When that is impossible, try taking a shower using Dr. Bronner’s peppermint soap; end with the shower by standing under cold water. Before you head out the door, take ten deep inhalations of peppermint or lemon essential oil.
